Minimum volunteer commitment:
one week
Minimum age: 12
Season: February 15-28 for beach clean-up
March 1-July 30 for turtle patrols.

Price for this 10-day experience: :

Day 1: We will meet you at the airport and take you to a friendly B&B in San José.

Day 2: We will have made reservations for you on the Sixaola bus. We will pick you up and take you to the Caribe bus stop, and help you get on the right bus. In Sixaola, take a taxi to Gandoca (not included). All meals included.

Days 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9: Settle into your room at a small, family-run guest house in the village. Patrol the beach at night, learn how to transfer turtle eggs to the hatchery, meet other volunteers from all over the world. All meals included.

Day 10:
A boat will pick you up on the beach and take you up the coast to the village of Manzanillo. There you can catch one of several daily buses to the town of Puerto Viejo, which you can use as your base for exploring the Caribbean. Breakfast and boat ride included.

This trip does not include transportation back to San José. Add on one of our Caribbean itineraries to continue exploring all that the Southern Caribbean has to offer.
